Hakkoda has 5 courses gathered together intermediate skiers and snowboarders. The Forest Course and Direct Course are the most popular, with ungroomed runs that stay true to the natural form of the mountain - only the trees have been cleared from the course. These 2 courses are signposted with guide signs, poles, and tape, and ski patrols regularly tour the area. However, it’s always the best to prepare and be as cautious as you would on a backcountry ski routes. Whether it's the Forest Course or Direct Course, you'll have an unforgettable adventure gliding through the Snow Monsters and the white tunnel of snow-covered trees.

Frost-covered Trees


Snow monsters! The tree with appearance is called Maries' fir, unique made by frozen stiff. In winter, wind blows supercooled cloud and fog against the trees, and an uneven granular coating of opaque ice. This is called rime. This rime completely coats the trees, and creates a jagged surface on the windward side. On the other hands, the moisture first solidifies and create a smooth surface when the rime blow from leeward sides.


Aomori has rich food resources, variety of fresh vegetable, fruits and seafood that all produced locally. Apples grown in Aomori are known as the best product in Japan and tuna is also recognized widely.



This onsen is a mountainous hot spring with more than three centuries of history in Hakkoda. Be sure to hit the famous ‘thousand person bath (HIBA SENNIN BURO);. received the name from its great size. It is accessible Just 5 minutes from hotel by car. During cold winter days, the bath area fills with white steam, creating the nostalgic feel of an old hot spring. It is normally mixed bathing, but there is specific time of the day for female bathers only.
